Multiple AIM or MSN accounts online at once - should it work?

Hi! I just discovered Fire and am delighted with it. Only slightly 
weird thing is that I have
two accounts each on AIM and MSN... if I connect to one AIM account, 
the other AIM
account immediately disconnects. Same behavior happens on MSN. Is this 
a limitation
of the protocol, a limitation of Fire, or something a newbie just isn't 
doing right?
