newbie: jabber buddies not appearing

Hi- I've been using a variety of Jabber clients on XP, RedHat, and OSX. I'm trying Fire 32.1 for the first time and I'm noticing that, unlike my other clients, my buddy list (which I believe Jabber keeps on the server) is not appearing. Any hints?
