Honestly, your method of conversation sounds more like a web forum or newsgroup. Everything's threaded, and there's an appearance of continuity. For that matter, using a good threading client (Panther's Mail.app does a pretty good job, as does Mozilla Thunderbird, and probably many other clients), you can get much the same view, albeit in multiple windows. I think Eudora's the only program that can give you a continuous view (similar to an email list's digest) of a series of messages. The idea of a not-instant-messaging program that automagically generates a new "newsgroup" every time you start a conversation thread is an interesting one. All responses (if there's multiple people in the conversation) could be aggregated, viewed continuously, and threaded in various ways...
