A few thoughts on how to implement SMS messaging:

1) Create an "SMS" service, which isn't a proper service at all.
(Unless there's an SMS service that's somehow superior to how AIM
works.) Users of that service (all phone numbers) will always appear
online, and have their own service icon to avoid confusion.

2) Create an SMS type (via a checkbox) for AIM contacts, and otherwise
treat them as above.

3) Create an address book plug in to send an SMS via Fire. (Similar to
the send SMS via a bluetooth phone.) That way, Fire isn't even involved
directly, but can be called upon. Setting up a service for Fire to
provide the same (e.g. "SMS selected phone number") would be handy to
allow for other numbers to be messaged.
