I've probably gotten dozens of wrong-number calls on my cell phone, 
and I'm paying for those, too. Wireless phone customers pay for all 
connections between their phone and the network, so all incoming and 
outgoing calls and messages.

Generally speaking, those wrong-number calls fall within the number 
of minutes I've paid for each month, so I'm not paying 30 cents extra 
to say "No, this isn't Brian. You've dialed the wrong number." But 
just as I have 150 minutes each month before I have to pay per call, 
I have 100 text messages (in or out) each month before I have to pay 
for each message.

Most wireless providers probably have similar deals. If there isn't 
already one on your plan, ask your provider what's available. I think 
I'm paying a little more per month so I don't have to worry about how 
many text messages I'm doing at 10 cents each.
