I liked it, and I can assure you I have a reading age beyond 
three-and-a-half.  If you want to vent vitriol please do it elsewhere.  
You presented valid reason for why it should not be included, I do not 
see the need for adding insults.  As someone else has said it may be 
annoying on a standard IRC channel but on dedicated channels (which it 
connected to by default) then this problem does not, and did not, 
exist.  Depending on the client used though even those sending colours 
and sounds can be annoying.

I for one think it would be a great addition to fire, but without 
whatever method used being understood by other clients I can't see the 
user-base being large enough to make the effort being worthwhile.
