Is Fire causing this?

Recently I have been having a strange problem and I'm wondering whether fire is the cause. A few times a day, seemingly random, the mouse pointer gets very jerky then the network (Airport Extreme) drops only to return to normal a minute or so later. I know the wireless router isn't dropping (although that shouldn't slow the pointer down if it was). I have looked in the console log and nothing appears. Trying to think about what has changed the only thing I can think of is the installation of Fire 1.0 (previously I was on the 0.99 beta) which is why I am wondering whether this could be the cause? And is there a better way of checking that other than not running fire fore a day to check for reoccurrence? Incidentally I am using an original revision 12" PowerBook running OS X 10.2.8.
