Re: You aren't currently connected for the service (null).

OK, I am sufficiently embarrassed.  I thought that once a person was logged
on in one account, s/he could send messages to people with different
services.  For example, I signed on with an AIM account and tried to send a
message to a Yahoo user.  I thought it was somehow integrated.  Dumb.
