It means you don't have permissions to modify the app folder, which should have nothing to do with Fire. You can try changing permissions (if you're an admin, allow admins to write to /Applications). You can also choose to install apps into ~/Applications instead (I do that with a few apps, e.g. proteus didn't like having its files read-only).
