IRC: Problem with some channels

Hi all!
Since this is my first posting here, I want to thank the authors for this 
great app. Looks nice and clean and has almost all I want (which is not 
much, btw :-))
Now I just need to find my ICQ password...

Ok, after some praise I want to tell you "pro's" out there about my 
problem and a slightly annoying detail...


1) IRC: cannot join some channels

At first: I suspect that there is a problem with special foreign/non-ascii 
characters, right?
I've had no problems during the last weeks, but now I want to add another 
channel to chat with but cannot log in. Did the same with the "buddy" and 
it's even on the same server. When I join this channel, then I just get an 
empty window. No idea what's going on, except that there is a German 
"Umlaut" (ä) in it's name. I played around with text-encodings but I don't 
know much about this and just clicked here and there with no plan... and 
no luck ;-)
Console doesn't say anything, the window opens... but with no content and 
no user-list, not even myself. I can neither send nor receive postings.

Console on start-up doesn't look suspicious:
22.5.2004 11:35:52 Uhr - [WvA] (wächter-von-asgard) has logged on.
[...]
22.5.2004 11:35:52 Uhr - fire has logged on.
22.5.2004 11:35:52 Uhr - IRC - You are now officially online.
22.5.2004 11:35:52 Uhr - IRC - Connected
[...server-message...]


2) IRC: private chat with password

At first it looked like #1 above but then I realized that I need to keep 
both windows open. I named the buddy like this: [channel] [password]
So, when doubleclicking it, I get two windows. One is totally empty and 
one works normally... but not always.  
Sometimes, I can send messages but cannot "see" the others (checking this 
with another IRC-client). And sometimes it helps to close and re-open the 
channel... strange. So, it seems to work (somehow) but maybe you could 
change some code to let us close that useless "password-window"... not-so-
important feature-request :-)

When closing the windows, I get the console-message: 
"22.5.2004 11:57:42 Uhr - IRC - Error from user Nights-Intern, 27"
But since this comes up when I want to leave, it doesn't bother me much 
;-)


Oh, yes, I'm using version 1.0 because I don't use the updated services of 
1.0.1
iBook600 with (German) OS 10.3.3
