To use it, you must=20 download the Freenet software, available for Windows, Mac, Linux and other= =20 operating systems. Your computer will then form part of a global,=20 decentralized P2P network, and you will be able to publish and consume=20 information anonymously, either through your web browser, or through a=20 variety of third party applications, such as Frost (see=20 http://jtcfrost.sf.net/). Since the first alpha there have been vast numbers of changes, in particula= r=20 significant improvements in user friendliness. For example, it is no-longe= r=20 necessary to find other people to connect to, Freenet can find other people= =20 for you. However, you can still connect to your friends for maximum securit= y.=20 It is also a good deal faster, and many bugs have been fixed. There have been many many other changes, and we will release a feature=20 complete beta followed by 0.7.0 itself in the coming months (we hope to hav= e=20 regular point releases after that). But we thought it would be best to get= =20 some wider testing at this point. There is more to do before 0.7.0, and one= =20 or two features which need to be completed before that. =46reenet 0.7a2 can be downloaded from: http://freenetproject.org/download.html This release would not have been possible without the release of numerous=20 volunteers, and Matthew Toseland, Freenet's full time developer. Matthew's= =20 work is funded through donations via our website (as well as a few larger=20 sponsors from time to time), we ask that anyone who can help us to ensure=20 Matthew's continued employment by visiting our donations page and making a= =20 contribution at: http://freenetproject.org/donate.html --nextPart2115336.uSNGcDXqTl Content-Type: application/pgp-signature -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.6 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQBHn3HeA9rUluQ9pFARAq7RAKC3TzF1xdGiNIPXNGXfzisJnjwAbACfeDIs 9RYchHJtlkq8n+EhiKBEWl8= =wkSb -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --nextPart2115336.uSNGcDXqTl-- --===============1682523658== Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline _______________________________________________ Announce mailing list [email protected] http://emu.freenetproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/announce --===============1682523658==--
