Re: Revamp of front page of our website

Hey, I do realize that I'm annoying you very much with my statements.

Thus I'll try to have this be the last email involved in the discussion of 
your website plans for now. I'll instead stick to writing actual code to trim 
the website in preparation of a potential revamp. Less input = less work for 
the designer. And less talk = more code :)

In return I would be really glad if you could still read this last mail on the 
subject and notify me of having read it :)
I want to say some things which weren't said yet.

There are currently pull requests of 3 different volunteers pending for the

I cannot make it any faster than that, this is close to full time even though 
I'm supposed to be working for my family until Freenet re-hires me.

And yet every day I have to wake up to stressful discussions on the mailing 
list, which is rather frustrating for me as well to be honest.
I mean I cannot do much more thank cranking out this many hours.
It would be really nice if there was a point where it was enough and people 
would accept that there is actual progress :)
Only getting negativity in the mailbox every day doesn't motivate a lot.

But: Given that I love this project and want it to succeed, I do accept that 
we may not reach an agreement here. It's more important that I continue 
writing code than continuing to annoy people with discussions.
So as said, I will just shutup and continue to write as much code as I can 
find spare time in my life.
My offer to continue being an employee once we've decided what to do with the 
money is of course also still 100% valid :)

I of course accept that you lead the project and do financial decisions! :)

I'm just wondering whether you have to impose the burden upon yourself of 
being the scapegoat for having made this decision given that there are only ~2 
weeks left until the poll is over.

Is saving 2 weeks worth the stress you'll have by pushing a decision without 
waiting for the community's "official" vote to justify it anyway?

Is saving 2 weeks worth $ 5000?
By your mechanism, the community is also supposed to judge upon how expensive 
the redesign is supposed to be. What happens if they judge it to be $2000 and 
you've paid much more?
Do you need to impose the stress of justifying that upon yourself just for 
saving 2 weeks?

And finally: Is saving 2 weeks worth making the poll look like a show?
There certainly is a big vibe of "wtf?" to making a poll *and* doing things 
*mentioned* inside the poll without obeying the poll if both events happen in 
a timespan as short as this one.

We have $29954.
Our funding campaign promised to fund 1 year of having an employee with a 
total cost of $27500.

$29954 - $27500 = $2454

So for the sake of obeying the campaign, please consider $2500 as the total 
hard upper limit for your website plans - be it without waiting for the poll 
or with :)

I've felt very bad during the past week about being involved in causing so 
much discussion, and I would like to not be an annoyance.
So hence my offer to now write code, shut up and leave you alone with the 
website :)
As a way of saying sorry, I can offer to tell you: I do everything I do 
because the project is so important to me. If nobody had said the things I 
have said, I would have felt that the project would be suffering. I felt those 
things needed to be said for our decisions to have all input they need to be 
correct.

[3] When volunteering, I stopwatch the hours just as if I was being an 
employee, and put them into a spreadsheet. I do this because I've figured out 
that it is very motivating: At the end of the day, there is a number to 
quantify how much one has accomplished. Seeing accomplishment is healthy for 
your mind.
I can recommend every volunteer to try to do this, it's fun :)
