Someone told me that I wasn't being clear enough here:
"I would focus on [...]" was meant as "I would recommend whoever tries to 
address this to focus on [...]", i.e. it was not meant to imply "I will do 
this".

As said I don't feel qualified to work on the crypto code myself, sorry.
