Re: why java?

Freenet 0.7 does work on GCJ, although there are some performance issues
(the big integer stuff is much faster than on Sun... I don't know why
overall the node is slower, it would be interesting for somebody to
investigate this!).

Java isn't a bad language really, but it's held back by Sun's refusal to
open the JVM due to previous de-standardization by MS.
