Hi James, If you want to reduce the load on your server, it might be useful to have a look at the DownloadMesh specification from Gnutella: http://rfc-gnutella.sourceforge.net/developer/tmp/download-mesh.html It realizes completely decentralized swarming where the server only needs to provide some initial IPs (instead of managing the swarm as in the BitTorrent protocol). As soon as a client knows some IPs, it can get additional ones from these other clients. The server can additionally point to a static file as alternate source. Best wishes, Arne Am Dienstag, 4.
