  This looks like a fine patch to include, I see nothing here that
can't be tested in side the first few minutes after applying the
patch.

  Ken, next time you might chop off the fist directory component to
make the life of the maintainer easyer...

  I think I would have delete the direct assignment of AS and GCC
though.  Now THAT is a nit pick.
