oldrpm gone from 2.00

In 2.00, the rpm build system has been totally overhauled. In the 1.9x series
RPM builds, we would symlink an entire kernel tree and manipulate it as
needed. Now, we take into account architecture-specific defines in RH's kernel
source, and can quickly build modules for target systems. The rpm-building
code now lives in "packaging/redhat".

During this process, the rpm building system was overhauled, and several
previously existing targets - notably "oldrpm", and some of the targets it
used in turn - were removed. This system is explicitly designed to build RPMs 
for systems running a RedHat kernel.

Were there any contexts in which oldrpm was useful, that this case would not 
address? (My own suggestion: people running vanilla kernels on RedHat 
systems might no longer be able to generate RPMs for their own use.) 

Should we recommend such people use existing module install targets instead of
generating RPMs?
