UML failed.. pls help

dear all,

I tried to setup the UML and never get it work. the xterm bring up properly but once i try to login with "root" as instructed in umltesting.html, it said "operation not permitted". I appened the exection steps, could anyone give me a hand?

However if run the /usr/bin/linux with the file system i downloaded from http://www.stearns.org/mkrootfs/rootfs.html
I can login the virtual host as root without complain.
