Are you sure that the FreeSWAN package shipped with SuSE 9.0 supports IPv6?

I have not yet played with it myself, but from what I have seen by only tak=
ing a quick look at the information provided for the FreeSWAN package, I wo=
uld suspect that it still uses KLIPS and therefore lacks the kernel support=
 of IPsec for IPv6. As far as I can see, SuSE has only applied the X.509 pa=
tches.
