Connectivity Issues

I have compiled wu-ftpd-2.6.2 with the realpath.patch connect-dos.patch
and the skeychallenge.patch in place. This is being done currently on a
Fedora Core 2 system.

I did run into issues during the make process with the ftpcmd.y file,
which I found the following solution:

	You need to enclose (all) the equal sign(s) in single quotes.

	This should do it (in bash):

	cp ftpcmd.y ftpcmd.y.orig
	sed -e "s/=[ "$'\t'"][ "$'\t'"]*{/'=' {/" ftpcmd.y.orig >
	ftpcmd.y

I was then able to complete the make and run make install. I did specify
the etc-dir and log-dir during configure as /etc/wu-ftpd and /var/log
respectively.

I have also set the following up in /etc/xinetd.d/wu-ftpd:
	service ftp
	{
      	  socket_type     = stream
      	  wait            = no
      	  user            = root
      	  server          = /usr/sbin/in.ftpd
      	  server_args     = -d -l -a
      	  log_on_success          += DURATION USERID
      	  log_on_failure          += USERID
      	  nice            = 10
	}

I have gone ahead and set the /etc/wu-ftpd/ftpaccess file up as the
following ( I am looking to set this up with guest access in the long run):

class   all   real,guest,anonymous  *
email [email protected]

limit   all   10   Any              /etc/msgs/msg.dead

readme  README*    login
readme  README*    cwd=*

message /etc/wu-ftpd/welcome.msg        login
message .message                cwd=*

compress        yes             all

log transfers anonymous,real inbound,outbound

shutdown /etc/shutmsg

I have also setup a short text file in the location of the welcome.msg
that is specified above.

When I try and connect to the server I see the following from an FTP client:

Status:	Connecting to ip.ftp.server ...
Status:	Connected with ip.ftp.server. Waiting for welcome message...
Response:	220 servername FTP server (Version wu-2.6.2(2) Fri Oct 28
10:52:18 CDT 2005) ready.
Command:	USER ftptest
Error:	Timeout detected!
Error:	Unable to connect!

I do not see anything in the xferlog file, and in /var/log/messages I do
see the following:

ftpd[18588]: getpeername (in.ftpd): Transport endpoint is not connected

I have been digging around trying to find information on this error, but
haven't got much that has been concrete.

I am not sure if the commands I used to help compile may be causing
issues, or if I should be looking elsewhere at this point.

Any suggestions is much apprceiated.
