dns issue gethostname mismatch

Running solaris 2.9 with wu-ftp, on an Ultra 1.
I frequently have gethostname mis-match problems when clients try to
access ftp site.
From what I can see they are not resolvable, i.e. dns.
I can resolve the name in my /etc/hosts file, a hands on solution.
I have tried placing in my /etc/ftpd/ftpaccess file:
dns refuse_mismatch override
dns refuse__no_reverse override
with no positive results.

Do I need to compile differently?
What Am I missing?
