mysignature1) wuftpd is a direct descendant of BSD ftpd.

2) proftpd has no relationship whatsoeveer with wuftpd. As is common=20
practice for open source, they may, however, have lifted some code; you'd=
=20
have to ask them since we really don't care.

3) wu-ftpd is vastly older than proftpd

4) I don't recall that the transfer log has never output "d" for "downloa=
d"=20
.. it has always been "o" as stated in the documentation. If the origina=
l=20
poster is seeing "d" then the version of wu-ftpd is patched.

I'm no expert historian on ftp but I was under the impression that proftp=
d=20
was the older server, i.e., predated wu_ftpd.

you are right, the list is not very active
i don't know if there is other wu-ftp information source
i heard about one point : proftp should replace little by little wu-ftp
perhaps pro-ftp is a fork of wu-ftp
or a complete rewrite
this perhaps explain why there is such little activity
here you can find all mailing list applying to wu-ftp :=20
http://www.wu-ftpd.org/mailinglists.html
(i bet you already had a look)
if you can retreive a ancient wu-ftp developper on proftp list :=20
http://www.proftpd.org/lists.html
good luck
(that's funny to see a guy trying hard to understand an old log got from=20
nowhere, without the binary, may i know why you need such help ? - ok in=20
private if you agree)

Thanks Stephane.

I assume you are running a recent version of WU-FTP
and I understand that the man page information I found
is current.

This list doesn't seem to be very active.. (or my
question is not too appealing to the list) is there
any other place where I could have some insights ?
Maybe from developers of early versions in the
wuftpd-dev list ? Or maybe you can suggest some other
place ?

I used your command over my xferlog files
i only have 'i' or 'o'
perhaps your log come from an old older version
which used to abreviate
the direction from words Incoming and Downloading
or perhaps someone had modified the source code to
display d instead of o
i can't really help

[FR tiens, encore un fran=E7ais]

Oui, hehehe
