Trouble migrating to Linux...

Moving my ftp server from Solaris 8 to Red Hat Linux version
2.4.20-31.9smp #1 SMP.  Having 2 problems:

1.  Can't login with anonymous anymore, even after restoring the ftp
data structure and the passwd/group files:

Password:
530 Can't set guest privileges.
Login failed.
ftp> quit

2.  Don't know how to add the patches (connect-dos.patch, etc) on Linux.

Any thoughts?  I've searched the archive mailing list, and not much
luck.
