Deflate Encoding

Hi Group,
   I am working with Gnutella protocol and got stuck with Deflate data.  Thus, for analysis I have captured the whole stream returned and stored it as dat file. I have also created a sample application using System.IO.Compression.DeflateStream in order to compress a given text file. Now, I am trying to match starting bit pattern of both the files, in order to see whether the stream which I have received is in correct format or not, both patterns are different.
 
  Please provide me some pointers so that I can handle deflate stream data correctly.
