I have asked him, he said he had done it, but lied. Nothing was changed: he
absolutely wants us to use his web site to see where ever there may be links
to out email addresses and signal him the message numbers.

He really has not understood the problem: it would take hours or days to
find most occurrences (remember: you'll need to scan many years of archives,
something that bots can do very easily, but not us), without any guarantee
of the result. He simply does not want to honor removal requests.

It will limit the impact, by avoiding new bots from running again on its web
site, to refresh their old lists with "fresh" working addresses to target
their spew when it does not generate enough revenue for the spammers. Why do
they run bots? Just because feeding them with lists of addresses collected
by others but full of non working addresses will ease the fast detection of
spammers and their blocking.

And blocking would clearly say to others that would try to repeat the same
error that this is not tolerated.

I did not ask to remove the messages, just to anonymize them at least by
hiding the email address, like Yahoo does. This would not impact the
archived content, but at least, there's no reason for him to archive private
data that is normally hidden in the sources that he is copying. 

A mailing list is not meant to be archived and used by other people than
just the subscribers at the time they receive the message. After this time,
others may look at the content but don't need to know the addresses unless
they want to subscribe to the mailing list itself and accept its policy in
order to be able to write there.

Mailing lists are not meant to authorize people to write to someone for
unrelated subjects.
