Perhaps its time to > merge crawler and ultrapeer in one "smart" ultrapeer. There's at least one problem to that: How do you determine "best path", and how do track it to be sure that it stays the best path while others discover it? All this without crawling all the time, because we don't want to waste too much bandwidth. Besides: It's still "Mikes Protocol", not Gnutella 2. If you want to know, why I'm still pissed, please have a look at the answer of Mike Green back then (he isn't the creator of "Mikes Protocol", he just happens to share the same name): - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/the_gdf/message/11976?threaded=1&var=1&p=8 and read some of the comments of non-developers over there to really understand why I don't like the name "Gnutella 2". It didn't split the Gnutella developers, but it did split the users quite badly, and it continues to do so.
