There's at least one problem to that: How do you determine "best path", and 
how do track it to be sure that it stays the best path while others discover 
it? All this without crawling all the time, because we don't want to waste 
too much bandwidth. 

Besides: It's still "Mikes Protocol", not Gnutella 2. If you want to know, why 
I'm still pissed, please have a look at the answer of Mike Green back then 
(he isn't the creator of "Mikes Protocol", he just happens to share the same

and read some of the comments of non-developers over there to really 
understand why I don't like the name "Gnutella 2". It didn't split the 
Gnutella developers, but it did split the users quite badly, and it continues 
to do so.
