What I meant is that the (unfortunate) circumstances that led to the
creation by Mike of his alternate protocol are now defunct.  The merits
(or lack thereof) of Mike's protocol must be analyzed coldly with respect
to the present state of Gnutella.

Any other comparison is necessarily opinion-based and not factual.
