Hi Brian,

The option is actually only available if LimeWire detects that it can accept an incoming connection and it knows its IP address isn’t private (ie, it isn’t 10.254.x.x or 192.168.x.x). If you’d like to change the code to make it always available (for easier testing on your part), you can change com/limegroup/gnutella/gui/library/LibraryMediator. shouldShowHTTPOption() to always return true. (That class is in the gui module.) The current file-view isn’t really well-suited to serving a static page, though – it generates a random number that’s changed on every launch, so that browsers can’t easily use up all your bandwidth. There’s a (somewhat stale) branch in CVS called ‘thumbed-view-branch’ that changed the format of the HTML page, added thumbnail-sized previews to images, and an option that would let someone turn off the password behavior (so you could make a link once & run LimeWire multiple times and always have it work). We’re going to dust that branch off at some point and incorporate it, but for now the file-view is mainly intended for short-lived views.

Hi Greg, I will try disabling my firewall to see if that solves the port problem problem (I don't have anything fancy on this system, just a standard ZoneAlarms firewall and no port forwarding). From what I can gather the option to create a Web page for a file (when clicking on it in the Library) is sporatic -- it hasn't worked at on the the laptop that I reported about originally (the original message below) but I could see and use that option on myu desktop once in a while. But now, for instance, it's no longer available on my desktop either -- it's just gone; the menu item does not appear. I have Pro 4.2.3 on both systems... maybe the create a Web page option is tied to some status/event when Limewire is running that doesn't actually occur at times?

I also noticed that the ability to create a Web page for my Library files is gone from this Pro version. When running the older CVS code I can right-click on a Library file and create a Web link (to share directly). That option appears directly below the "Magnet Details for File" option, but it's not available when I run Pro 4.2.2 -- not sure if that feature was removed, or if it's a bug?

Regarding the Magnet detail port issue, I don't see any hard coded port number there. What I have noticed in the past is that if you are behind a firewall and have set a different port for forwarding through the firewall then the magnet detail page will be for your firewalled port rather than your local port. Do you happen to have that situation?

Hello again, I just updated to the latest version of Limewire Pro and noticed that it incorrectly sets the port number when creating Magnet Link Details. When I right-click on a file in my Library, then choose "Magnet Details for File" it uses port number 6346 for the xs attribute which is not correct (at least on my setup) since the port number for me is actually 6348 -- I had to manually change the port number to get the link to work properly. I didn't choose a different port number, but instead noticed that I couldn't use the magnet to download from my own system until I changed the link. I did notice while working with the source code from a recent CVS snapshot that the port number is hard-coded in some .java source code files, which might explain the problem.
