        Key: CORE-13
    Summary: Local groups
       Type: New Feature

     Status: Open
   Priority: Minor

    Project: core

   Assignee: Greg Bildson
   Reporter: Stephen de Kok

Environment: All OS

Description:
Limewire is definately a useful, efficient program for filesharing. Unfortunatley there is no way to privately share files on the network. To overcome this I suggest:

Create groups that can be searched for but, to access the files within these groups, or even have them show up in searches, a person will have to log into the remote group with a username and password. If the password is not known, it cannot be accessed. Membership in the group would be managed from each computer that is hosting files that are part of the group. This would be extremely useful when sharing files, especially on a local network, where a bunch of files need to be transferred, but where computers do not have file and print sharing setup and for. It would also be useful for sharing personal files between friends, etc where email and chat apps (like msn) are too slow.

To integrate the above into the interface see the picture linked to below: (208 kb)
