Hi Vic,

There is currently no JNLP version of LimeWire.  We've had some brief 
forays into creating one, but have not followed through on the 
experiments.  WebStart, as is, was a little too clunky for our likes.  
There's some issues with having instructing firewalls to allow LimeWire 
ports -- we currently use a homemade "LimeWire.exe" to launch LimeWire, 
so that firewalls can allow that access.  Using either javaw, javaws, 
or java is less than ideal because we don't necessary want users to 
have to worry about the behind-the-scenes java.  In addition to the 
firewall problem, LimeWire is set as the default handler for "magnet" 
links -- from what I've read, there's a way to allow a link to start a 
webstart process and pass it arguments.  (This is also a problem for 
starting LimeWire on system startup, which uses a --startup parameter).

We haven't ruled out WebStart entirely, though.  If there's a good 
enough reason to use it, we'd gladly look into it.  What kinds of ideas 
did you have in mind?
