We've been discussing this on the core-dev list, under the subject PATRICIA. See http://www.limewire.org/pipermail/core-dev/2005-May/001853.html (the whole thread). The main difficulty is that it must also be a server-side feature. If only the client-side were to implement it, there would be a ton of useless results wasting network bandwidth and reducing the effectiveness of the search.
