First of all Classpath isn't late at all, since classpath isn't java.
For now ALL 1.4.1 compatible java runtimes are heavily based on SUN's 
classes. If you want to rely on the one and only "java" compatible classes 
that are available and SUN dies, goes postal or whatever its not really 
happy.
Supporting classpath would also allow LW to run withought fully compiled 
(GCJ) or even on topof .NET (ikvm) - so it should add a great amount of 
choice.

Well, I am sure LimeWire does not need "full" support of Swing, and NIO is 
mostly working.
That was the idea behind my last mail - fix LW where its broken (e.g. makes 
asumptions which are not specified anywhere) and enhance Classpath so far 
that it works.

Well, java always has been upward compatible so I do not see the black magic 
behind this ;-)
