Warning: I currently get many non-delivery notifications from around the world about mails sent from the LimeWire mailing list manager, each time I send a message or reply to one. It seems that the problem is that LimeWire mailing list server is simply NOT registered in DNS for the reverse IP, and this raises issues about possible spam from its IP address. Here is for example how I receive messages from the list to my email address: Received: from lists.limewire.org (unknown [64.61.25.172]) by mwinf1408.orange.fr (SMTP Server) with ESMTP id 7BC791C0008A for <[email protected]>; Sun, 1 Oct 2006 20:12:18 +0200 (CEST) You'll note that the IP address is "unknown", with no clear delegation and so the origin is suspect (the indication "lists.limeWire.org" given by the LimeWire MLM is just indicative and not authoritative as most spammers just falsifies this information, only the reverse DNS deleation is trustable. Is there a possibility for LimeWire to register its IP addresses in the DNS with an authoritative entry (no need to change the MLM setting, which just gives a hint about how to interpret the host address, when there are possibly multiple services accessible from the same host)? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sam Berlin" <[email protected]> To: "'Carlos SR'" <[email protected]>; "'Justin Kelly'" <[email protected]>; <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, October 01, 2006 8:08 PM Subject: Re: [trans] Korean Translation > Carlos (and anyone else curious why they're receiving these mails), > > You're receiving these because you signed up for the translate list at > limewire.org, to help translate LimeWire into different languages.
