Suddenly, without warning, I cannot run guarddog. I have by now downloaded rpm's installed, compiled, everything from 2.4.0 to what have you without result. Wherever I search on the internet nothing can be found that will lead me to the solution of this horrible error. > _X11TransSocketINETConnect() can't get address for localhost:6000: Name or > service not known guarddog: cannot connect to X server :0 What did exist (or run...) before that doesn't run now? Some talk about things absent in the /tmp directory, others about not being able to resolve localhost (which is bound to 127.0.0.1). well if doing: fuser -v -n tcp 6000 reveals nada enchiladas which of course is good and suspicious in whatever way you would like to look upon it. What should be listening on port 6000? I thought most X servers where configured to NOT listen to port 6000 by default, so what is guarddog doing with this port? Beyond that DISPLAY=:0.0 Please help me, as i have a hard time living without this excellent firewall configurator. cheers /Theo ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
