Hi, I've just started using guarddog on Ubuntu 8.0.4/Hardy, but I can't seem to figure out how to configure it to allow SLP traffic between the machine and my HP OfficeJet printer. I've added the ports/addresses from here (http://www.networksorcery.com/enp/protocol/slp.htm) and have tried various things mentioned elsewhere on the list. My hard-core networking skills are pretty rusty since I haven't needed them in quite a while, so it would be great if SLP was added directly to Guard Dog. Right now, I have to disable my firewall every time I want to scan a document, and I get messages about can't send SLP packets from hp-config. Output in /var/log/messages when trying to scan: Sep 26 16:54:46 excalibur kernel: [12746.946957] DROPPED IN= OUT=eth1 SRC=10.0.8.1 DST=255.255.255.255 LEN=65 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=64 ID=0 DF PROTO=UDP SPT=2846 DPT=1124 LEN=45 Sep 26 16:54:46 excalibur kernel: [12747.031639] DROPPED IN= OUT=eth1 SRC=10.0.8.1 DST=10.0.8.200 LEN=52 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=64 ID=64334 DF PROTO=TCP SPT=5306 DPT=9290 SEQ=1304859434 ACK=0 WINDOW=5840 RES=0x00 SYN URGP=0 OPT (020405B40101040201030307) Sep 26 16:54:49 excalibur kernel: [12750.028849] DROPPED IN= OUT=eth1 SRC=10.0.8.1 DST=10.0.8.200 LEN=52 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=64 ID=64335 DF PROTO=TCP SPT=5306 DPT=9290 SEQ=1304859434 ACK=0 WINDOW=5840 RES=0x00 SYN URGP=0 OPT (020405B40101040201030307) Sep 26 16:54:55 excalibur kernel: [12756.028488] DROPPED IN= OUT=eth1 SRC=10.0.8.1 DST=10.0.8.200 LEN=52 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=64 ID=64336 DF PROTO=TCP SPT=5306 DPT=9290 SEQ=1304859434 ACK=0 WINDOW=5840 RES=0x00 SYN URGP=0 OPT (020405B40101040201030307) Sep 26 16:55:07 excalibur kernel: [12768.027654] DROPPED IN= OUT=eth1 SRC=10.0.8.1 DST=10.0.8.200 LEN=52 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=64 ID=64337 DF PROTO=TCP SPT=5306 DPT=9290 SEQ=1304859434 ACK=0 WINDOW=5840 RES=0x00 SYN URGP=0 OPT (020405B40101040201030307) Sep 26 16:55:31 excalibur kernel: [12792.026050] DROPPED IN= OUT=eth1 SRC=10.0.8.1 DST=10.0.8.200 LEN=52 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=64 ID=64338 DF PROTO=TCP SPT=5306 DPT=9290 SEQ=1304859434 ACK=0 WINDOW=5840 RES=0x00 SYN URGP=0 OPT (020405B40101040201030307) The OfficeJet is 10.0.8.200, eth1 is configured as 10.0.8.1 and I have a DMZ configured as 10.0.8.0/24 in guarddog. Any ideas on how to make this work would be very helpful. I've also enabled the SNMP service between the local and the DMZ from both directions. Thanks in advance, ast -- Andrew S.
