Running guarddog through proxies or directly through isp

Hi everybody, This is my first post to the guarddog mailing list, after I searched the list database. I am new to guarddog (or any other GNU/Linux -based firewall) and relatively new to GNU/Linux. I use Tuquito (a Debian-based distro developed at the University of Tucumán, Argentina). I could configure rules in guarddog defining zones for ip conections as well as e-mail client/servers. The firewall seems to work, since I could not connect to the internet unless I defined some rules that were clearly explained in the manual (e.g., adding dns to serve the local client). Also, I find guarddog is working everytime I connect to the internet (no matter whether I am connected from the startup of a PC session or after I choose to do so (i.e., after working off-line at startup) through my isp. However, I when I connect to the internet through a proxy server of my university, some security tests I run Shields Up! from the Gibson Research Corporation, SEEMS to FAIL. What I found follows: Common ports: all showed STEALTH, however the test failed. No explanation about that, except that the machine was either non-existent or not connected. All service ports: all showed STEALTH, however the test failed. Received, the same explanation as above. Spam: No pop-up window appeared. Obviously, I am not using windows. Browser header: The request header obtained running the test under SECURE included the referer address. Is this a security leak? This happened either connecting through the proxy or not. What would be the reasons for all the above failures or failure messages? Thank you in advance for the replies.
