firewall blocks many soft

I don't know whether guarddog protocols list is outdated or not.
as soon as i activated it the following couldn't be used anymore:

gmail pop and smtp
MSN messenger
ICQ
rtorrent

ok, for gmail i created a new protocol because pop.gmail.com uses the port 995 without ssl. I first allowed POP2, POP3, POP3S;
POP3S uses port 995 but as long as i couldn't download my emails i created a new protocol using port 995 and then allowed the zone containing pop.gmail.com to use that one and I could download my emails.

for sending emails I had to create a new protocol using port 587. So I allowed the zone containing smtp.gmail.com to use that new protocol and i could send emails.

for MSN and ICQ i didn't find any solution.

for rtorrent I though the Bittorrent Peer using ports from 6881 to 6889 would be ok, but rtorrent doesn't take off. though i limited rtorrent to use ports 6881 to 6889 only through its .rtorrent.rc file.

Then I created a new protocol using those same ports with the type UDP, and allowed the internet zone to use the new protocol but still rtorrent doesn't take off.
