Hi Mario.

On my Fedora install with KDE, when I click on the desktop icon for Guarddog, 
a kdesu dialog box opens, and asks for my root password, which when entered 
and ok'd, opens Guarddog in superuser mode.

If you're starting it from the command line as user, it is only going to open 
in non privelaged user mode.

If on Ubuntu, try opening it as below.
sudo guarddog

If using other distros that have a root password open it as below.
su
then enter root passwd, then.
guarddog

Guarddog will then open in superuser mode.

This is not the ideal way to open it, as it should present you with a dialog 
box for the root password, or in the case of Ubuntu your user password, when 
you click on the desktop icon.
