I found some setting I'd never seen before that was refusing connections. I hadn't changed it, but it was changed. Now it's working. Obviously, I'm still using Hamster at the moment. Inertia, I suppose. But for some reason, whenever I use it at a different PC than the one I used last, it forgets the password for the one news server I use that requires one.
