I dunno about hotmail either, except that I keep seeing "mailbox full" type messages when I try to send to various people with an account there - most annoying, cause it turns out the mailbox wasn't full at all ... ... anyway, for yahoo, go to SourceForge and grab YahooPops. It works very well with Hamster, though you may have to tinker with the configuration options before you get it right. Once it works, it works fine.
