In its' default, out-of-the-zipfile configuration, Hamster will not send or retrieve e-mail messages (or newsgroup postings, for that matter) automatically. In order to send or retrieve messages, you must do one of the following: - write a script to send and retrieve messages that you trigger manually. - the same script as above, but with additional code that allows it to be triggered at specific times via Hamster's internal scheduler. - configure actions, triggered by the posting of a message to Hamster, that run the same script as in the first case above. [At least, I think those are the only possibilities] In your case, ISTM that the simplest solution is to have one Hamster running on the LAN and let it do *all* the work...both internal and external. When the "Internet PC" is switched on and an Internet connection is established, manually trigger a send/retrieve script and let Hamster do its' thing. Once Hamster is done, and assuming no other Internet-related things need to be done, shut down the "Internet PC". -- *************************************************** * Rick PGP info in headers Web: RSN <grin>! * *************************************************** ------------------------ Yahoo!
