Hi Folks, I wish to test a program of mine for nntp ssl support. I've tried the stable and beta versions of Hamster v2, but though I can see the test groups using OE 5.5 non-SSL I can't do anything if I try with SSL. I've set hamsters nntp port to 563, amoung other things. I beleive I;ve done all the obvious, with the help of a google translation of hte SSL FAQ page. I've created my own key pair, there are no error messages in hamster's log file; and it reports succesful init of the OpenSSL stuff. but the log reports immediate closure of the connection attempts from OE. OE gives an uninformative error message. [I configured IE 5.5sp2, on which OE gets its settings, to use TLS and SSL3, but not SSL2). One interesting experiment was to set hamster to wait on port 563, with TLS required. I then set OE to use the same port but without secure SSL connection. OE's error message had a hamster message saying that TLS was needed. Without writing out every detail of the config (which could take some time since that would cover both hamster and OE) I was wondering if anyone has actually got hamster working with OE in SSL mode for news/nntp? Has this ever actually been tried? I was also wondering whether OE's secure authentication is something I can try with hamster, or is it NTLM or something not very helpful like that?
