Hi, I'm new to Hamster and have a few questions: 1) Could someone explain the getmids.txt file for me? I've been using Hamster for a few days now, and I have run into my first real frustration here. I was pulling my newsgroups and downloading the bodys into my newsreader (Agent) when several errors regarding the getmids.txt file came up (one was concerning opening, the other saving I believe). I shut everything down and restarted, hoping this would help things out. I have two servers set up and I took a look at the getmids.txt file for the server that I was NOT using when this error occurred; this file was full of message IDs (I think that's what they are- look similar email addresses). I don't see why, because I had pulled all the articles for this server a few minutes before hand; the number of MIDs in there by far outnumbered the number of articles that I normally pull for this server. When I do a pull for this server, Hamster said "get list of MIDs" and it stays here (for about 15 mins now). The connection is active and something is being transmitted, but I'm not sure what it is/what to do. I'm going to let it run for a bit longer, but I'd like to know what happened here; is it rebuilding a database or something that got corrupted by a bug or what? The number of News articles loaded (on the status bar) is going up, but it's not showing me what group it's working on like it has always done before (in the log window). 2) I have a script written to pull from 2am to 8am, both of my servers, with a 240 minute repeat included with the AtAdd command. I guess I actually have two questions related to this: a. Should Hamster disconnect and stop pulling news at 8am or does the 8am limit simply stop further repetitions (and let the current jobs finish)? b. Will the scheduler start running the subroutine it is told to the next time 2am comes around (the next day), or does that AtAdd only schedule for one day? If it only schedules for one day, what's the best way to keep it in there each day? Some sort of goto/while loop in the script? I'd appreciate any help you guys can offer! Thanks much. -- To post a message: [email protected] To unsubscribe: [email protected] Yahoo!
