Or is this a problem of Atlassian? Well, it's an invalid message ID (it's lacking an @-sign and a domain). That's invalid in both netnews and email, so technically this is Atlassian's problem, although email doesn't care about message IDs very much and this is a UUID so it's probably unique, so it's unlikely to cause many practical problems in email.
