Philip, I think you mis-read me-I wasn't saying I had found the answer 
to the problem, but that I had experienced the problem in the same 
manner as other recent reports. That having been said, I have tried a 
few (very rusty) swipes at the code.

Adding a few fflush() statements, and some additional printf()s, I can 
see that the code is making it at least as far as line 557 (all line 
numbers given against CVS code, patched with Colin's patch) in 
msn_SBconn_2() ( "if (ext_async_socket(remote_host, 443, (void 
*)msn_https_cb1, hdata) < 0) {" ), and into msn_https_cb1(), as I can 
see the debug output of line 609 in msn_https_cb1() ( " if (DEBUG) 
printf("entering msn_https_cb1\n");" ), as well as debug statements I 
added after the calls to ssl_init() and ssl_write(), but do not see the 
output from the debug code (line 639) after the while 
(ssl_read(sock->ssl, buf, sizeof(buf))) loop at line 624. The value in 
hdata->url going into ssl_write() appears to be "GET /rdr/pprdr.asp 
HTTP/1.0".

I don't know if this helps, but hope it does somewhat.
