Summary: Multiple account handling

Initial Comment:
Ayttm is the only multi-account IM client I've ever
used that only allows you to talk to a specific buddy
via one screen name at a time -- for me the main point
of having multiple accounts is to be able to have both
a meta-discussion and one-on-one roleplaying (with the
same person) at the same time.

The other user gets an error message if he tries to IM
the other account, and in Ayttm it simply won't open
another window.

"The message for user 'xxxxxxx' was not saved. Please
verify the recipient's name and try again. Thank you."

While running Ayttm & Y!'s own client seems more stable
than Trillian Free, this is makes Ayttm almost
worthless to me

Well the meta-discussion seems to be working just fine for me. It may have
been fixed accidentally some time in the past ;)

In any case, the point of fallback messaging
[http://tech.bluesmoon.info/2004/09/fallback-messaging.html] is that the
user doesn't have to worry about multiple accounts and having to maintain
them. If you want separate accounts of the same buddy to be treated
separately, you'd be better off treating them as separate contacts. Works
perfectly well for your role play too :)

The point of ayttm's multi account support is that you
shouldn't have to care about which account you're using to
chat - ayttm will take care of that.

If you want to chat with a buddy using different accounts,
then use different contact names for that buddy. eg:

local user accounts: my_acct_1, my_acct_2
remote user account: buddy.
add contact:
contact name: buddy_1, account: buddy, local account: my_acct_1
contact name: buddy_2, account: buddy, local account: my_acct_2

now, if you want to chat as my_acct_1, then you can chat
with buddy_1, if you want to chat as my_acct_2, then chat
with buddy_2. In both cases you will be chatting with buddy.
