1. Add a new jabber account
- Screen name: your gmail (or googlemail) account including @gmail.com
- Service type: Jabber

2. Edit | Preferences | Select the jabber account associated with your
gmail address
- Set Connect Server to: talk.google.com
- Select Use SSL
- Port: 5222
- SSL Port: 5223

3. Click Ok

4. Connect
