Revamped IRC protocol support

Hi Barry, George, We've revamped the IRC support in Ayttm (branch libirc-mod in CVS), but it's still really very unstable as well as incomplete at the moment. There have been quite a few changes in behaviour as well, for which we'd like it if you guys could pitch in with some suggestions. There are always Notices received by a user from the server like channel welcome notice, replies to any CTCP commands (chat client VERSION, PING, etc.), etc that are not supposed to be replied to. Currently we've implemented them as popup messages as opposed the previous behaviour of opening a separate chat window for each notice. Since popups can be pretty annoying, can you guys think of a better way to present these notices without breaking the flow of a chat?
