Category: None Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: geek (weregeek) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: changes to accounts don't take effect until restart Initial Comment: I need to restart AYTTM to get some changes i made to a jabber account to work - i occationally get it reset to the previous setting if i hit disconnect or reconnect. Not tried this on the other protocols yet. I'm running the latest version of AYTTM off git, and installed it via make/make install ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Siddhesh Poyarekar (siddheshp) Date: 2010-01-12 16:04 Message: Funny, I do the exact same thing you mentioned and it works OK for me. I tried with the "ask for password" check box once and the server name the second time. The server name gave me an incorrect dialog box, but the changes surely were made. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: geek (weregeek) Date: 2010-01-12 15:57 Message: Well as far as i can tell. I do the changes, hit ok, disconnect and reconnect... and it dosen't seem to do anything. I shutdown AYTTM, and start it again, and my changes take. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Siddhesh Poyarekar (siddheshp) Date: 2010-01-12 15:33 Message: I'm not sure what is happening, because I am able to see configuration changes without restarting the app. The Preferences UI is quite shabby; it is one of those things inherited from everybuddy which nobody ever touched. It is one of the things we're looking to rewrite in the near future. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: geek (weregeek) Date: 2010-01-09 18:05 Message: I suppose there's two parts then. disconnect/reconnect resets the changes i made - but even after i hit ok, the changes in the server info i made did not take (i was trying to get my LJ talk account working by trial and error). I had to shutdown AYTTM each time and restart it, to get the changes i made to work. I am not a programmer, but it is almost like it reads the info when the programmes start and dosen't check if the info is changed. If i may, disconnecting and reconnecting does not belong in the account edit window, and a apply option might be a good idea as well- but at this point, i'm going beyond a bug report ;) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Siddhesh Poyarekar (siddheshp) Date: 2010-01-09 15:53 Message: Are you talking about changes being saved when you click the Connect/Disconnect button in the Preferences window or in the main status window? The former is a known issue. You have to click on OK to have the preferences saved. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=550744&aid=2928731&group_id=77614 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Verizon Developer Community Take advantage of Verizon's best-in-class app development support A streamlined, 14 day to market process makes app distribution fast and easy Join now and get one step closer to millions of Verizon customers http://p.sf.net/sfu/verizon-dev2dev
