Summary: Cannot open modules directory

Initial Comment:
I'm running Ayttm 0.4.6-1 on Windows 2000 Professional.
My first attempt at running Ayttm on this box gave the
error message "Cannot open modules directory
'modules'". Eventually I reinstalled Ayttm and it
seemed to work. The next day, I booted up the machine
and tried to start Ayttm and got the same error
message. I've verified that C:\Program
Files\Ayttm\Modules exists and seems to be accessible.

Let me know if you need any further information or
testing from me.

The prefs file is automatically generated when AYTTM is
opened from a user who does not already have a prefs file.
Until this new user modifies anything it could be smaller
than your other user. They do not have to be the same. The
prefs file for a new user is NOT copied.

Send me the newly created prefs file so I can compare.

Best regards,
Edward Haletky

I installed 0.4.6-17 on Windows XP Home and it didn't give
this error on the account I installed on. Switching to any
other account, administrative or restricted, produced the error.

The file the software creates (2k) is half the size of the
prefs file for the installing user (4k). I think all that
data should be pulled over, but at the minimum data from
etc/ayttmrc (which includes the modules directory path)
should be put into newly created prefs files.

This happens if you install from a build and not from the
installation file. The build tree does not place teh file out
there that is needed yet the INNO Setup file that is installable
does.

I am not sure what is going on. I can not duplicate this
error. I would very much like to have some assistance with
installation issues if possible. I will add this too my list
to look into.

IMO, this is a bug. If everything is installed as default,
then ayttm should know where the modules directory is
installed. The prefs file must contain the correct location
by default

Okay, that did the trick. Hidden folders. I haven't had to
use Windows for quite a while ;)

Anyway, is this a bug? Has it been fixed in CVS?

Thanks for your help!

Oh, yeah, it is a hidden folder. Either show hidden folders by
going to Tools->Folder Options on the View tab, or you can
just type it into the address bar:
C:\Documents and Settings\<myuser>\Application
Data\AYTTM

Hmm, I don't have an "Application Data" folder in
C:\Documents and Settings\myuser\.

Hi,
Open up your "C:\Documents and Settings" folder and go into
your user's folder. From there, go to "Application
Data\AYTTM" In this folder you will find a file named "prefs"
Open the file using Notepad or Wordpad (it has no extension,
so you will have to select a program to open it with). There
should be a line that says something like:
modules_path=modules

Change this line to read:
modules_path=\Program Files\Ayttm\modules

Save and close the file and then run Ayttm again and see if it
works.

Jonathan
